No More Nee Doh

General Announcement

We are writing to let you know that Nee Doh toys will no longer be allowed at school. While these items may seem harmless and fun, they have increasingly become a distraction and a safety concern during the school day.

Recently, we have seen students breaking and cutting them open, filling them with substances such as water or hand sanitizer, and throwing them at other students. This has created classroom disruptions, messes, and situations that take away from valuable learning time. At this point, they no longer serve a positive purpose in the school setting.

Although they are certainly cute and popular, Nee Doh toys do not have an educational purpose at school and will need to stay at home moving forward. If students bring them to school, they will be confiscated and turned in to the office and parents will need to pick them up.

For students who have an IEP or 504 plan that includes the use of a fidget or stress tool, we will continue to honor those accommodations. However, families will need to work with their student to select an alternative fidget or stress ball that is durable, appropriate for school, and does not create a distraction or safety concern.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to maintain a safe and focused learning environment for all students.
