A Message from Principal Jergens-Zmuda - January 8, 2026

Message From

Welcome Back, Issaquah Middle School Families!

I hope everyone had a wonderful break and is ready to kick off the new year!

We recently held an Associated Student Body (ASB) assembly where we celebrated our Fall sports teams, and students selected for All-State Band, All-State Orchestra, and Eastshore Choir.  THE ASB students put on an amazing assembly with fun games for several students to show their school spirit and play some games.

In the next few days, we will be recognizing the over 400 students who made Honor Roll for trimester 1 with a certificate and showing their picture on our TV screens.  Congratulations to all of these hardworking students!

Students will be completing i-Ready mid-year diagnostic for Reading in their Language Arts classes the next several days. These assessments will help track their progress this year.

Our Course Registration Process for the 2026-27 school year will be coming up in early March.  Please make sure to read the Weekly Bulletin as we get closer about how to do this process as every student must select their possible courses for the following school year.  We will include information for the rising 9th grade students to register for courses at our new online high school option, or Gibson Ek or Issaquah HS as well.

Upcoming Events and Important Dates:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday: No School on Monday, January 19.
  • Wrestling Meet: Good luck to our wrestling team as they compete on Saturday, January 17 at Skyline HS.
  • Mid-trimester 2 is January 23.  Please make sure students are turning in missing assignments and taking advantage of any test corrections or possible quiz or test retakes.
  • Teacher Workday: There will be no school for students on Monday, January 26. Please plan accordingly.
  • Parent Coffee – Java with JZ: Join us on Thursday, January 29, at 10:00 AM in the school library for a chance to connect, share feedback, and learn more about our school. If you cannot attend in person, you can join via Zoom using the following link:
