A Message from Principal Jergens-Zmuda - August 29, 2024
IMS Families and Community,
Welcome to a New School Year, Issaquah Middle School Families! We're excited to kick off another fantastic year at Issaquah Middle School! The first day went smoothly, and we're eager to keep the positive momentum going.
In these initial days, students will participate in "Panther Camp," where they'll learn about school rules and expectations. Teachers will also cover their syllabus, introduce class materials, engage in get-to-know-you activities, and begin diving into content. Starting tomorrow, students should bring their fully charged laptops to school daily.
This year, Issaquah Middle School has implemented a Phone-Free Zone policy. Students are required to keep their cell phones, earbuds, and smartwatches in their backpacks from arrival until after school. Off and Away. Our staff will issue warnings if devices are seen, and repeated offenses will lead to confiscation, with phones being returned at the end of the school day or having parents pick them up. Continued violations may result in detention, a meeting with administration, and potentially having to check in phones daily at the main office.
We believe these steps will reduce distractions and conflicts, allowing everyone to focus on learning and personal growth. We appreciate your support in making Issaquah Middle School a safe and positive environment for all.
Thank you for your cooperation, and let's make this year the best one yet! Take care of each other, Panthers!
Mark your calendars for Panther Palooza, our Meet the Parent Night, on September 12. Join us at 5:30 PM . We will have 4 food trucks available to purchase dinner for you and your family, and from 6:00-7:30 PM, teachers will be available in the gym to meet and chat with families instead of following a student schedule and not able to really talk to your child’s teacher. This is a great opportunity to meet one in particular or all of your student’s teachers. If you can’t make it, teachers will be posting welcome videos on their Canvas pages with important information.
A friendly reminder: there will be no school on Monday, September 2, in observance of Labor Day.
